Important and delicate sternum transplant operation, the first performed in Tuscany and among the few in Italy, at the University Hospital of Siena. The recipient of the transplant was a 73-year-old woman from the province of Grosseto who had already undergone, over the years, more than 10 surgical operations, in other hospital facilities, due to a recurrent chondroma, which had led to the removal of the body of the sternum and part of the costal cartilages.
