Chirurgia Open

Open surgery

Despite the widespread use of minimally invasive techniques worldwide and their undeniable advantages, open surgery remains the most commonly performed technique in all hospital facilities. It is particularly suitable for certain types of conditions, sometimes allowing for faster execution (and therefore more frequently used in emergency surgery) and is inevitable in complex conditions (such as large tumors involving adjacent organs), where visibility issues with a camera in a “closed” abdomen, risks of complications, and prolonged surgery duration necessitate traditional open surgery.

In uncertain cases, a minimally invasive approach may be initiated, with the option to convert to an open procedure if conditions are not favorable for continuing laparoscopically/robotically.
